Information, suggestions, and guidelines for Jacobite participants:

Introduction

by Elliot MacFarlane
Research Historian

The material contained in these guidelines is derived from a variety of sources. Each year the feedback received from participants, site personnel, and the public has been noted for future reference. In addition, material has been obtained from research books, site visits, eyewitness accounts, and other historical sources.

This document had been under discussion since the first Culloden Living History event. After Culloden 2000, I was ask to review and edit the information packet prepared by Lady Anne's MacKintosh Regiment. That packet was the catalyst which moved this document along. It provided me with a good idea as to what kind of information was needed. My colleagues did the rest by volunteering me to assemble the material.

This document would not have been possible without the wealth of information, ideas, and editing provided by: Chris and Jennifer Timm, Karen E. Wood, Dr. Lyle Calcamuggio, David Challenger, Dr. Joyce Donley, Keith and Laura Enoch, Patty Hughes, Scott Patterson, Barton Redmon, Dr. Lillian Wakeley, Phillip Donley, and many other fine people.

No document of this type is ever complete. Understand that as new information becomes available, this document will be added to, changed, or amended. If you have pertinent source documents or research materials which contain additional items of interest, please send them along.

CLAN CHIEFS AND UNIT COMMANDERS, PLEASE MAKE SURE A COPY OF THIS DOCUMENT IS DISTRIBUTED TO, AND READ BY, ALL OF YOUR PARTICIPANTS.

Yours,
